Care Options

It's well known that proper care and routine maintenance will extend the life of our cars or homes. The same holds true for premium boots. Get the most out of your Irish Setter boots by following our recommended three step process of cleaning, conditioning and protecting them with products designed specifically for that purpose.

A well-prepped, clean surface enhances success when applying conditioners and protectants to your footwear. To clean any of our waterproof leather footwear, you can simply use water and a clean cloth. We recommend Essential Leather Cleaner for our non-waterproof leather boots.

NaturSeal™ is the best performer for conditioning waterproof leather boots. NaturSeal™ is a leading-edge conditioning formula which uses breakthrough technology to penetrate waterproof leather, enhancing breathability and pliability. If you prefer to use a wax instead of a liquid, we recommend our Original Mink Oil Paste. To condition oil tanned leather footwear, we recommend the Original Mink Oil Paste or All Natural Boot Oil.

Our Essential Leather Protector creates an invisible shield of protection for leather and fabric, and is recommended as the final step in our care process.

To ensure your rubber footwear stays in good condition wipe or spray with lukewarm water after use and allow to dry naturally. If soap is required for additional cleaning, we recommend using a non-scented soap. Store all footwear in a cool, dry, location avoiding direct contact with any heat source, extreme cold or sunlight.

By taking time for proper care of your footwear, you'll not only notice better performance in the field, but your Irish Setter boots will last longer too.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Uncomfortable Working construction we build houses and I have to stand up for very long periods of time on hard, soft and unlevel ground. These have to be the most uncomfortable boots I've ever worn. The actual quality of the boots seem to be really nice, but the lack of comfort kills me with them. I will not recommend them for that reason at all.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Horrible digged in to my ankle Well after the 3 day of wearing the shoe I decided not to anymore the part were it folds keep digging in to my ankle to were I can take it anymore I tough I was part of the break in process but I won't find out I'm going to just wear my old red wing 2401 I bought this pair because the sales person said they were very similar and more comfortable out of the box to the 2401 wich wasn't true for me other then that the shoe seems well made and durable

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Boot ripped off Didn't noticed when the boot ripped off, been using the boots on a daily basis for around 6 months in a manufacturing plant, no rough treatment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dont last My first set leaked water now my second the same and sole is falling apart they dont wear well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! My boyfriend had these boots for 2 years before the sole came off, and even then they were still water proof. They were handed down to him from his dad who had worn them for 2 years before him. So all in all they are 4 years of awesome boots. They both worked in construction so obviously these boots had tough love.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I thought this would be my only workboot choice the first few months I wore them. These were the most comfortable work boots I've ever worn, and I've been working over forty years. Wore them around the house for two weekends before committing them to full time use at work. I was absolutely amazed at how great they fit and felt right out of the box. The rather course nonskid coated concrete floors throughout our machine shops were to much for the soles. After ten months they were unusable. I hated to replace them with a different brand, but at the price paid for these I expect more than eight to ten months of use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great boot for a Tender/Offshore Worker I'm a diver/tender and I work offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. A constant conversation down here is about what boots to get and can recommend these with confidence. A boot for a tender has to endure oil, fuel, petroleum products, concrete, salt water mud and many other elements. The sole offers good traction in wet muddy and slippery decks. It's a stable shoe with proper support and the insole and outsole are very compliment and makes the 12-16 hour days on deck tolerable. They've also lasted long compare to other brands and styles. The waterproofing and boot as a whole has maintained for almost a year of offshore work(if a lair of boots lasts that long in the hands, or shall I say feet, of a tender that's saying something). My only complain is the leather in the toe is fairly thin compared to my other boots and wore theough quickly. However almost every boot deos that and A shoe goo toe cap or some tough to will take care of that.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Issues on this boot I have owned these boots twice both times with in 2 months the interior at the heel of your foot ripped to the point I can't get my foot out no more both pairs did the same thing as much money as I spend on these boots that problem should b fixed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top of the line boots!! Excellent boot for the money. Well made and very durable. Ive just bought my second set of these boots. The first set lasted about 3 1/2 years with me having them re-soled once. I plan on doing the same with these ones also. Its around 80 dollars to get them re-soled at your local red wing dealer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent boot Iv worn this boot for the past two years and have met every expectation. I have worn these hunting, working, or even casual nights out. They hold up extremely well with wearing almost every day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The BEST shoe in the USA I bought these for my husband last year for Christmas. He says they are absolutely the most comfortable, long wearing durables shoes he's ever had. He is still wearing them after a year. He has worn them five and six days a week for that year. He works outside in all types of weather. We have bought shoes from everywhere, from Wal-Mart, Carolina brand, Rocky, to Timberland, Wolverine and others, and NONE has the comfort or quality like RED WING IRISH SETTER. And the reason as a woman I know what I'm talking about is because as a retail manager, I've sold shoes for over 15 years. So if you want to waste your money on a lower quality, cheaper shoe that will only last two or three months, buy elsewhere. I just hope for my husband's sake you never stop manufacturing this style.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great boot once it's on I love these boots. Once they're on. The heel is so inflexible I have to pull really hard to get them on. With wool socks it's a down right struggle. Not sure why. But once they're on you're good. Feilds, snow, work, etc. they perform. Had them 2 years. Still look great.
