Drifter boots are purpose-built for maximum durability with minimum weight – they’re the lightest weight trail/hunting boots we've ever made. The full-grain leather upper combined with abrasion resistant mesh results in maximum comfort and breathability. Quick-dry linings wick away foot moisture and ArmaTec™ technology adds abrasion resistance to high wear areas of the heel. This combined with the Venturist outsole and contoured fit make this product perfect for whatever trail you take.

The Drifter 2835 features these technologies:

UltraDry™ Waterproofing System

Our UltraDry™ construction combines a moisture management lining with waterproof components for dry, long-lasting comfort and performance.

An Irish Setter exclusive scent control process, ScentBan™ is added to various materials from leathers to linings to footbeds, killing bacteria that cause odors.

CuShin™ Comfort tongue technology was designed to minimize pressure some hunters feel on their shin from the top of the boot tongue. A four-way stretch nylon offers relief and flexibility while walking, and an internal padded waffle mesh maintains premium comfort.

Strategically placed high-rebound material brings high-end athletic shoe technology to more practical applications, delivering a recharging burst of energy with every step.

Care Options

It's well known that proper care and routine maintenance will extend the life of our cars or homes. The same holds true for premium boots. Get the most out of your Irish Setter boots by following our recommended three step process of cleaning, conditioning and protecting them with products designed specifically for that purpose.

A well-prepped, clean surface enhances success when applying conditioners and protectants to your footwear. To clean any of our waterproof leather footwear, you can simply use water and a clean cloth. We recommend Essential Leather Cleaner for our non-waterproof leather boots.

NaturSeal™ is the best performer for conditioning waterproof leather boots. NaturSeal™ is a leading-edge conditioning formula which uses breakthrough technology to penetrate waterproof leather, enhancing breathability and pliability. If you prefer to use a wax instead of a liquid, we recommend our Original Mink Oil Paste. To condition oil tanned leather footwear, we recommend the Original Mink Oil Paste or All Natural Boot Oil.

Our Essential Leather Protector creates an invisible shield of protection for leather and fabric, and is recommended as the final step in our care process.

To ensure your rubber footwear stays in good condition wipe or spray with lukewarm water after use and allow to dry naturally. If soap is required for additional cleaning, we recommend using a non-scented soap. Store all footwear in a cool, dry, location avoiding direct contact with any heat source, extreme cold or sunlight.

By taking time for proper care of your footwear, you'll not only notice better performance in the field, but your Irish Setter boots will last longer too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Comfort, Light Weight and Stability for Trail and Field In the three months I have owned these boots (November, December and January), I've worn them for upland hunting twice and more than 50 times on long day hikes with my beagles over rough wooded trails, snow-covered and sometimes icy stone and dirt roads, and uneven, densely covered fields. These trail boots were immediately comfortable and give great stability without being heavy. The soles don't clog with mud, water and melting snow do not penetrate them, and my feet feel as good when I take them off as they did when I put them on. I purchased a half or full size larger than I usually wear. My feet don't slip in the boot and socks (cotton, lightweight wool and mid-weight wool) all worked (temperatures from -14 wind chill to 50 degrees). Don't get the size you think you should wear--get the size that fits. That may be larger than what you normally wear.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ripped on top These boots are super comfortable and light weight, but 2 months after I got them they started to rip apart right where they bend at the toes. Both sides of both boots did the same thing. Quality was not what I expected from Red Wing. My first and last pair of Red Wings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shoe with a material flaw Hands down these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn straight out of the box. I used these in a tactical woodland setting for a week after a new pair of a competitor's shoe failed the first day. The staff where my training occurred allowed me to purchase some shoes and these performed very well. Although the break in period was negligible and the comfort was unmatched, the material has begun to split at the bend of the toe where the toe wrap around meets the sole. I love these boots and I'm hesitant to return them for such a small flaw, but I'm sure the flaw will become a leak as I wear them this fall. Due to the waterproof characteristics of this shoe, it does seem to hold odor longer than other comparable shoes. Fix this material flaw and this will be the best boot in its class hands down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more complaining! My husbands feet have been aching for so long now, but he still kept buying the same shoes over and over so I suggested Red Wing, he liked these a lot so he purchased. I just asked him now how his feet feel, he said great, loves them. He has had them for about 3 weeks now...Everyone is happy, he is no longer complaining about his feet :). I just ordered him another pair on this site!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not very durable I recently purchased these on sale and was very excited about them. I am currently a student in the turf management program striving to be a superintendent on a golf course one day, so as you can imagine this includes being outside and on your feet all day in many different conditions (especially wet conditions). I would like to start off by saying how comfortable these shoes are. I bought Irish setters because the redwing name has a good reputation. Long story short the shoes did great for about a month and a half (dry and very comfortable). I do believe there is a flaw in the design though because after about 1.5months the material where my foot bends started becoming frayed and after a couple more days of walking in them had become a hole. You can imagine what happened after that, wet feet (Pretty disappointing). It seemed as the waterproof membrane was still intact but my feet are getting wet and none the less my shoes are holy after only a month and a half.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Walked 40 miles on these boots in week and didn't get a single blister I recently purchased this boots on amazon to go hiking and camping in the Adirondacks Mountains of New York with my brothers. They did the job well. They stayed waterproof when I crossed small streams and didn't bother me on the long 12 and 16 mile hikes we did during the trip. In total, I probably walked 40 miles on these boots that week and didn't get a single blister. I love these Boots.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just ok but I wear 12 3E but you dont make that width so I had to settle for 2e as I tried them on and the sales guy said they will relax a bit Well they havent in the toe and I can only wear them for about 4 hrs as the day goes on I need to change them They also dont have a strap to hold the tongue up in place and it slides down even cheap athletic shoes has this feature Not very happy with them at all and wished I had returned them A waste of $120

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fabric material gives comfort and flexibility but didn't hold up. I bought this product because the last pair of Irish setters I bought have lasted 3 yrs. and still going but being in a truck they were to hot on my feet so I bought these the drifters because they were lighter and cooler on my feet. I have worn these 4 months and the fabric material has split where the boot flexes, I have treated these kinder than my old ones and paid more for them.
