Snow Claw XT

The warmest hunting boot in our line, the Snow Claw is also impervious to the elements, thanks to our UltraDry™ technology and the ArmaTec™ toe protection. Our Snow Claw XT sole features an aggressive lug pattern for superior traction, plus Thermal Boost™ technology to enhance underfoot insulation.

The Snow Claw XT 3888 features these technologies:

UltraDry™ Waterproofing System

Our UltraDry™ construction combines a moisture management lining with waterproof components for dry, long-lasting comfort and performance.

ScentBan™

An Irish Setter exclusive scent control process, ScentBan™ is added to various materials from leathers to linings to footbeds, killing bacteria that cause odors.

ArmaTec™

This technology is a protective covering that is incredibly tough and abrasion resistant. Placement of ArmaTec™ in high wear areas helps preserve and lengthen the life of a boot.

ThermalBoost™

This construction incorporates underfoot insulation that serves as a barrier to heat loss between the foot and frozen ground.

3M™ Thinsulate™

The ultimate insulation for cold weather boots, 3M™ Thinsulate™ Ultra Insulation is thin, warm and lightweight, with the durability to withstand long hours of hard wear and keep feet warm even in damp conditions.

Realtree®

Realtree Xtra® works in any hunting situation with depth and lifelike images. Realtree Xtra® Green offers detail and contrast which works great for early season bow hunting, where green is needed and closeness counts. Realtree AP™ is a neutral, open and realistic camo pattern; everything a hunter needs to be versatile and effective. Realtree APG™ is lighter and more open, neutral-toned, and with more contrast than the competition. The pattern is like Realtree AP, but with olive green accents added. Realtree APG camo offers even more concealment options for early fall and spring. Realtree Hardwoods Green HD® is a "season and region" option for hunters; an ultra-realistic pattern that's effective and versatile for use wherever green is prevalent.

Care Options

It's well known that proper care and routine maintenance will extend the life of our cars or homes. The same holds true for premium boots. Get the most out of your Irish Setter boots by following our recommended three step process of cleaning, conditioning and protecting them with products designed specifically for that purpose.

A well-prepped, clean surface enhances success when applying conditioners and protectants to your footwear. To clean any of our waterproof leather footwear, you can simply use water and a clean cloth. We recommend Essential Leather Cleaner for our non-waterproof leather boots.

NaturSeal™ is the best performer for conditioning waterproof leather boots. NaturSeal™ is a leading-edge conditioning formula which uses breakthrough technology to penetrate waterproof leather, enhancing breathability and pliability. If you prefer to use a wax instead of a liquid, we recommend our Original Mink Oil Paste. To condition oil tanned leather footwear, we recommend the Original Mink Oil Paste or All Natural Boot Oil.

Our Essential Leather Protector creates an invisible shield of protection for leather and fabric, and is recommended as the final step in our care process.

To ensure your rubber footwear stays in good condition wipe or spray with lukewarm water after use and allow to dry naturally. If soap is required for additional cleaning, we recommend using a non-scented soap. Store all footwear in a cool, dry, location avoiding direct contact with any heat source, extreme cold or sunlight.

By taking time for proper care of your footwear, you'll not only notice better performance in the field, but your Irish Setter boots will last longer too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Started off great.... Got these boots for winter work out in temperatures down to -40°F, and was initially quite happy. They kept my feet warm and dry, and my feet get pretty sweaty in most boots. However, they chew through the laces like no other. Even Kevlar laces only last about a week and a half. I have about 4 months daily use on them now, and the webbing between the tongue and the eyelets is starting to developer holes. After two months, the waterproofing failed. Now the insulation has llost it's loft, and at 0°F I'm having difficulty keeping my feet warm in then. They're still pretty comfortable, and I'd keep wearing them in warmer weather, if I could keep them laced up.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Design has a lot of potential! What I liked about this boot was the behemoth level of insulation. They're jam packed full of toasty-toe Thinsulate and if you get cold feet easily I doubt these boots would allow that to happen without a good fight. For a general and average wear test I sat on my deck in 20ºF at night for a half hour and the rest of me got chilly far before my feet came anywhere close to getting cold. If I lived in colder climates with common temperatures less than -10ºF, this boot would be a worthy investment. Alaskans and Canadians or people that have great difficulty keeping their feet warm would utilize this boot best. I would give them a 6 out of 10 on comfort as they just don't feel the right fit for me. They're clunky feeling and rigid with little give while kneeling down, but I would imagine that's from the 2000g Thinsulate. It's a necessary sacrifice given the level of warmth these boots provide. In the end, I preferred The Irish Setter 1000g Elk Tracker boots in regard to comfort which to me will be like hunting in boot slippers. I felt more comfortable knowing they would more easily mold to my foot shape, getting even more comfortable over time. The Elk Tracker is far superior in the comfort realm in my opinion and gets a solid 9 out of 10. If I were to provide a description for how the Snow Claw XT boots feel, I would say they're closer to wearing ski or snowboard boots, but with better insulation. They're indeed the warmest boots you can slip your feet into, although you should take a fair amount of time to break the beasts in before venturing deep into your favorite back country...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the best boot I have ever owned. I have never felt so stable in the woods as I have when I went hunting after just purchasing the "Snow Claw" I will purchase another pair if I cannot find the 15" version for my second pair.
